Threatened SI Maritme Forest More than a Century Old
The Sullivan’s Island Maritime Forest is a place of majesty and beauty Biologists believe that the Maritime Forest has been a part of Sullivan’s Island for more than 100 years. During that time it has evolved from sand and sand dunes speckled with sea oats to a full-fledged forest with majestic trees and a variety of wildlife. All the stages of the coastal forest work together to grow, to survive, and thrive.
This unique ecosystem, part of the Lowcountry Land Trust, is slated to lose THOUSANDS OF TREES and countless shrubs and other vegetation as part of a lawsuit settlement with homeowners wanting ocean views and breezes…unless you help us STOP THE CHOP.
