BIRD BANDING DEMONSTRATIONS
Watch a bird banding demonstration! In order to identify and keep track of individual birds, scientists put aluminum or colored bands on birds’ legs. Similar to the license plate on a car, each aluminum band is engraved with a unique set of numbers. Don’t miss your chance to learn more about the important research the Sullivan’s Island Bird Banding Station is doing on migratory and resident birds! You must sign up for a demonstration (LIMIT 10 PEOPLE per session).

NATURE HIKE IN MARITIME FOREST
At 10am, come explore the Sullivan’s Island Maritime Forest & learn the value of native plants and how they can inspire your home garden! This guided tour is limited to 25 PARTICIPANTS, so be sure to sign up early. Local restoration ecologist Rebecca Fanning will lead this walk and highlight how this important plant community shelters us from storms and provides forage and shelter for innumerable creatures, big and small.
